The Grateful Lens

Reflections of Nature and Insights.

Limited edition photographs paired with soulful reflections to help you slow down, notice more, and reconnect with what matters.

It has taken me the better part of 30 years to realize that observation is my profession - it’s how I connect to the world. It’s my way of noticing what’s right, even when life feels messy. It’s a way to pause, reflect, and find meaning in the moment.

As a photographer, that might be through the capture of the day’s dramatic first light or a fleeting expression in someone’s eyes.

As a writer, it’s often a psychological puzzle that drives me to the keyboard - to type myself into a deeper understanding of a challenge in my life. A safe space where I can express differing points of view - without judgment - to better understand myself and the subjects of my observation.

The Grateful Lens is where I share that practice with you.

Here, you’ll find:

  • Behind-the-scenes glimpses into the why behind my favorite images, often in the form of travel stories

  • Personal stories that explore growth, gratitude, and creative intuition

  • Gentle prompts and reflections for those seeking to live more intentionally

  • Quiet meditations on light, timing, and the art of becoming

This space is for anyone drawn to beauty - not just the kind you can hang on a wall, but the kind that lives in paying attention.

If you’ve ever found yourself grateful for a coincidence, struck by stillness, or transformed by the way light hits a window… you’re in the right place.

Thanks for reading. I’m honored to share what I see (and forever learning) with you.

I’m Brian, a nature-loving portrait photographer, fine art visual storyteller, and lifelong Gratitudaholic.

ITTP … You?..

ITTP - is a mantra that has never failed me. It allows me to sit at the front of a brand new thrill-ride with a huge smile as I lean into the uncertainty that blasts at my face with g-force enthusiasm.

Pushed By Pain

Significant life changes tend to wait for us to experience a push by pain or to be pulled by a vision. I believe it took me a heavy dose of each to land where I now love to be.
